March - May 2012

"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ.." 2 Cor. 5:20

Carolyn and I are reminded of this verse constantly, and our responsibility to the Mexican people, especially when we cross the international bridge into Nuevo Laredo Mexico. The majority of the people are so lost and without hope and searching for something to fill the empty hole in their lives. Thanks to you and your love for missions and missionaries, some of them are getting saved.

La Iglesia Bautista Calvario - Nuevo Laredo, Tamps., Mexico

Even though the drug cartel violence is still continuing in Nuevo Laredo, we have been having good services at La Iglesia Bautista Calvario ( Calvary Baptist Church ). Our faithful people are very faithful and are inviting others. The area of the city where the church is located is very far from the international bridge, so we have to pass through a lot of bad areas of the city. How we do appreciate your prayers for our safety! Recently, on a Thursday, several bodies were found hanging from an overpass that we have to go over to return from the part of town where the church is. We have to pass that way every Sunday. About a week after the bodies were found hanging from the overpass, more bodies were found in plastic bags in a car near the military base that we pass by every Sunday on the way to the church. Please continue praying for us and the Mexican People.

Our first thirty four years that we were here, we spent much of our time in Nuevo Laredo and never were concerned about our safety. However that changed in 2010, when the drug cartels began setting up road blocks and targeting ordinary people, not just those in rival cartels or the military. It sure doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Bro. Juan Tamez has been a blessing and is growing in his studies to be a pastor. He preaches one of the hours in the Sunday morning service and is doing a great job. We had four people return Sunday after a long period of time being absent.

Rio Grande Missionary Help

April 16-19, we had speakers and other guests come from Arkansas, Missouri, Oklakoma, Tennessee, Wisconsin, other cities in Texas, as well as local people to come for the Missions Jubilations Camp Meeting. It was a great blessing to everyone. The next Camp Meeting will be October 15-18, 2012. Please plan to be with us then.

Sincerely In Christ, Thanks for support received:
